This painting is a tribute to Ailton Krenak, Indigenous leader, environmental philosopher, and one of Brazil’s most powerful voices for the rights of nature and native peoples. His writings and speeches urge humanity to re-enchant its relationship with the Earth, reminding us that we are not separate from nature, but a living part of it.

Ailton’s gaze appears with quiet strength through a veil of organic textures, merging with the forest he defends. The jenipapo fruit, known for its deep blue dye used in Indigenous body painting, is present as a symbol of cultural resilience and memory.

As a young man, Krenak used jenipapo to paint his face while delivering a historic speech in the Brazilian National Congress, an act of protest that marked the presence and power of his people.

The pastel tones and fluid layers of this work create a contemplative atmosphere, as if time has slowed to let the spirit of the forest speak. Leaves and abstract patterns evoke both nature’s resilience and its vulnerability, a visual echo of Krenak’s call to halt the march of destruction and dream new worlds into being.
